In a blatant display of unconstitutional behavior, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham recently banned the carrying of firearms in Bernalillo County, claiming it to be a “public health emergency.” This serves as a stark reminder of the tendencies exhibited by liberal politicians throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Firstly, when in power, they often believe themselves to be above the law. They issue dictatorial orders, implementing their own biases without any regard for the Constitution. Their approach represents the rule of power rather than the rule of law.
Secondly, they base their decisions on false information and flawed analyses, aligning with their left-wing ideology. There is absolutely no evidence that law-abiding citizens carrying weapons pose a threat. However, there is plenty of evidence that criminals do not follow the law. The governor’s ban would disarm innocent individuals without impacting those who break the law.

Thirdly, they frequently exempt themselves and their cohorts from the rules they impose on others. For instance, Governor Grisham decreed that citizens could not carry firearms, but her own security forces were allowed to have guns.
Fourthly, they relentlessly impose their ideologies on the general population, be it gun owners, concerned parents, or those who simply desire to live free from interference. When the rest of us disagree with the left, they exploit the power of government to coerce us against our will.
Fifthly, when confronted, they resort to lies, assuming that the public is either unintelligent or that the news media lacks the courage to challenge them.
With her gun ban, Gov. Grisham has taken this pattern of behavior to new levels of lunacy.
On virtually every issue, the radical left is determined to use the power of government to force people to do what it wants regardless of their views.
Amy Swearer perfectly encapsulated the governor’s absurdity in an article for the Heritage Foundation’s Daily Signal:
“New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham last week accomplished a feat that few politicians have ever come close to managing: She issued a gun control order so outrageous that it received an overwhelming, bipartisan rebuke and left gun control activists speechless,” Swearer wrote. “…The order is insanely unconstitutional. Grisham doesn’t seem to care.

“Yes, you read that correctly. It’s not just unconstitutional. It’s insanely unconstitutional. No sane, sober, or prudent governor who has read the Constitution (or even spent five minutes reading the Cliff Notes version of Second Amendment case law) would issue such an order with any inkling of hope that it might pass constitutional muster.”

The American people reject Gov. Grisham’s anti-freedom bias. According to a poll conducted by RMG and reported by Scott Rasmussen, “Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters say that banning private ownership of guns so that only police and other government officials had them, would make Americans less safe. … Thirty-six percent (36%) say it would make Americans safer.”
Rasmussen also revealed that “by a margin of 52% to 34%, voters would rather live in a community where people are allowed to own guns than in one where guns are outlawed.”
Clearly, the governor’s actions, which flout the law and defy public opinion, are indicative of how out-of-touch Big Government Socialists are with the American people.
On virtually every issue, the radical left is determined to use the power of government to force people to comply, regardless of their personal views.

The left consistently violates President Abraham Lincoln’s principle that government should be “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Governor Grisham’s assault on the Second Amendment serves as yet another reminder of how radical the left has become, and how fervently they wish to impose their will upon citizens, regardless of the law.
