Death investigation underway at Mission Viejo home after man reported mother missing – Orange County Register

A death investigation was underway in Mission Viejo after deputies arrived at a home to take a missing-person report and found suspicious circumstances Tuesday night, Sept. 14, authorities said.

A man called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to report his mother, a woman in her 60s, was missing, officials said.

But when deputies arrived to take a report in the 27100 block of Cipres, they became suspicious, Sgt. Ryan Anderson said. What they saw or heard that made them suspicious was not immediately divulged.

Detectives were called in, Anderson said, adding that homicide investigators were also on scene Wednesday morning.

A command-post vehicle sat in the cul-de-sac of the neighborhood of single-family homes, and investigators took out large bags of evidence.

No arrests had been announced. It had not been disclosed yet if a body was found inside the home.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
