‘Crooked’ Biden Student Loan Plan Faces Trump’s Criticism Following Supreme Court Decision: Accused of ‘Vote-Buying’

Former President Trump delivered a scathing critique of President Biden’s flawed student loan forgiveness plan on Friday, branding him as “corrupt.” This condemnation came as Trump celebrated a favorable Supreme Court ruling in the case of Biden v. Arkansas at the Moms for Liberty Joyful Warriors National Summit in Philadelphia. In his address to an enthusiastic crowd, Trump denounced Biden’s plan, which aimed to forgive over $10,000 in federal loans per borrower.

Earlier on the same day, the Supreme Court declared Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan unconstitutional. This initiative would have eliminated debt for individuals earning less than $125,000 annually, with Pell Grant recipients qualifying for up to $20,000 in forgiveness.

During his speech, Trump stated, “[It] would have been very unfair to the millions and millions of people who paid their debt through hard work and diligence. Very unfair.” He went on to label President Biden as “corrupt” and accused him of attempting to secure votes with this proposal.

The Supreme Court’s majority opinion discredited the belief that the HEROES Act would authorize loan forgiveness, dealing a significant blow to the Biden administration. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the 6-3 majority, noted that the Secretary’s plan would have erased approximately $430 billion of federal student loan balances, canceling the debts of 20 million borrowers and reducing the median amount owed by the remaining 23 million from $29,400 to $13,600.

Furthermore, Trump made reference to the 303 Creative LLC. v. Elenis decision, which granted a Christian web designer the right to refuse services to same-sex couples. He praised this as a significant victory for religious liberty.
