Couple chooses Mickey and Minnie at wedding instead of food

No food, just Disney characters.

The internet went into a tailspin after a woman on Reddit said she and her husband didn’t have catering at their wedding, so they could afford appearances from Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

“My fiancée (M30) and I just got married two months ago and we had our dream wedding,” Reddit user throwaway_family9525 said in the since-deleted post on the “Am I the A – – hole” forum.

While the wedding might have been a dream for the self-proclaimed “huge Disney fans,” the guests had a less magical experience.

The bride’s aunt started posting on Facebook about her disappointment, and a few guests at the wedding took her side, according to the bride.

“The issue was with our decision to not offer catering services/bar services at our wedding due to routing the money towards having a wedding Minnie and Mickey make appearances at our special day,” she added.

The user stated that the cost to have both Mickey and Minnie for 30 minutes was “almost exactly what our parents allotted for our catering budget.”

The couple scheduled an appearance from the characters during their first dance and wedding photos, but she clarified in an edit that she actually scheduled two “30-minute sessions on different days. $2,750 was the cost for one session.”

A woman on Reddit said she and her husband didn’t have food or drinks at their wedding, so they could afford appearances from Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

She justified omitting catering by saying there were “PLENTY of facilities at the venue where people could eat,” and editing the post to add that the invites said there would be food at the venue and that there was also a vending machine.

Commenters were quick to let her know that she and her husband were indeed the a – -holes of the situation.

The bride tried to redeem herself, responding “You have to understand that it was DISNEY OFFICIAL wedding Minnie and Mickey. It’s a two year waiting list just to see the DATES AVAILABLE.”

Moderators of r/AmItheA – – hole removed the post. The thread says moderators remove posts for many reasons, “including keeping communities safe, civil, and true to their purpose.”

Even with the original post deleted, screenshots of it have been circulating social media and “Minnie” began trending on Twitter Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Reddit confirmed to NBC News that the screenshot being circulated was initially in the r/AITA group.

“If I went to a wedding like this, I too would be talking s – – t about it . . . f – – k you mean you’re not providing catering??? At a WEDDING??” one person tweeted.

“If I find out you spent $5,500 American dollars on Mickey and Minnie Mouse pictures at your wedding I attended instead of serving food, the next time you see me will be in hell,” another user said.

“Imagine sitting at a table with no food watching two weirdos in costumes pose for pictures with Mickey and Minnie Mouse,” another joked.

The post was also being discussed in a separate Reddit forum, r/bridezillas.

“This is so weird. Why even invite guests? The fake characters in costume were obviously more important than anyone invited,” Reddit user KickIt77 commented.

“I would have Venmo requested my flight and hotel expense,” one user quipped.

“I am a huge Disney fan, and this s – – t is still weird AF,” one person added.
