PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — A stunning incident occurred on Tuesday, as authorities apprehended a Philippine Coast Guard personnel in a checkpoint located on the national highway in Kumalarang town, Zamboanga del Sur. The shocking discovery was made when it was revealed that the officer’s vehicle was carrying a staggering 400 reams of smuggled cigarettes.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Seaman First Class Nasrin Sangsangan, stationed at the coast guard station in Pagadian City, was immediately taken into custody by the 2nd Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by Lt. Col. Juliuxar Asdani.
Sangsangan, a resident of Zamboanga City, now faces charges related to the smuggling operation.

The capture of Sangsangan unfolded during a routine checkpoint process, where the illegal stash of cigarettes was discovered inside his Toyota Vios car. Authorities requested relevant documents from the suspect, but Sangsangan failed to provide any, leading them to believe the goods were contraband.
Following the discovery, Sangsangan was promptly arrested and detained at the Kumalarang municipal police station.
