Chadwick Boseman, the late actor known for his remarkable performances in movies such as “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Marshall,” and “Get On Up,” will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It was announced that Boseman was selected among a group of honorees for the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2024 class in the motion pictures category. Joining him in this category are other notable entertainers including Gal Gadot, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chris Pine, and Michelle Yeoh. The specific dates for the ceremonies have yet to be scheduled, according to the Walk of Fame website.
In 2018, Boseman gained immense recognition for his portrayal of T’Challa, popularly known as Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 43 due to cancer in August 2020.
Simone Ledward Boseman, Boseman’s widow, recently spoke about their relationship in her first interview since his passing. During a conversation with Whoopi Goldberg on “Good Morning America,” Simone expressed her gratitude and shared the depth of their love, saying “I can’t believe that I got to love this person. And I also got them to love me too.”
Additionally, Howard University, the historically Black university where Boseman studied, announced that its newly reestablished college of fine arts will be named the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts in his honor. This tribute was unveiled by actor Phylicia Rashad, Howard’s dean of the College of Fine Arts, who stated that she “could think of no better namesake” than Boseman.
