Former child star Adam Rich tragically passed away in January at the age of 54. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office has revealed that his death was caused by the “effects of fentanyl.” Rich was best known for his role as Nicholas Bradford on the popular ABC comedy-drama “Eight Is Enough,” which aired from 1977 to 1981.
During his time on “Eight Is Enough,” Rich became known as “America’s Little Brother.” The show also starred well-known actors such as Dick Van Patten, Diana Hyland, Betty Buckley, and more.
In addition to “Eight Is Enough,” Rich appeared in various other television shows, including “Dungeons & Dragons,” “Baywatch,” “Small Wonder,” and “CHiPs.” He even reprised his role as Nicholas in two TV spin-off movies.
Rich had taken a break from acting in recent years and only made a few appearances, such as in the 2003 film “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.” He was also known for his struggles with mental illness and had been an advocate for raising awareness about mental and emotional health.
His representative, Danny Deraney, shared a heartfelt statement on Twitter, describing Rich as a kind, generous person and a warrior in the fight against mental illness. Rich’s former co-stars, including Willie Aames and Betty Buckley, also expressed their grief and paid tribute to his talent and friendship.
Adam Rich’s passing is a great loss to the entertainment industry, and he will be remembered for his contributions to television and his efforts to advocate for mental health.
