In a shocking incident in Pasadena, a collision occurred between a Metro A Line train and a car, resulting in moderate injuries to the motorist and sending the train operator to the hospital with minor injuries.
The incident took place around 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and California Boulevard, as reported by Lisa Derderian from the city of Pasadena.
The fire department rescued the injured woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and she was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, according to Derderian.
Pasadena officials confirmed that no one aboard the train suffered any injuries. However, Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo informed City News Service that the train operator was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the police investigation, the tracks were temporarily closed in the vicinity. Buses were arranged to transport passengers to the Del Amo, Fillmore, and South Pasadena stations. Train services resumed through the area around noon, but with a shared single track in both directions, leading to expected delays of approximately 20 minutes, Ubaldo stated. By 2:30 p.m., all tracks were fully reopened.
Ubaldo also mentioned that Metro technicians were dispatched to assess any damage to the train involved in the collision or other transit infrastructure.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the crash.
