Luann de Lesseps, the star of Real Housewives of New York, has responded to accusations made by her former co-star Bethenny Frankel regarding Bravo’s treatment of cast members. In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Luann expressed her understanding of Bethenny’s fight for change in reality television while emphasizing her personal positive experiences on the show.
Luann acknowledged that while she cannot speak for others, she has had a good experience throughout her years on Real Housewives of New York. However, she recognizes that some individuals may have had negative experiences and supports their right to fight for change. She also mentioned her loyalty to NBC, the network that airs the show, and her ongoing positive experiences with them.
Bethenny, who recently called for a unionization of reality stars, argued that reality television exploits its cast members and needs to change. Luann rejected claims that the show forced her to do anything against her will, particularly regarding drinking. She stated that she has always had the freedom to make her own decisions and remove herself from situations she felt uncomfortable in.
Bethenny had previously made allegations about a “toxic environment” on reality shows and had vowed to expose the issues behind the scenes. However, she clarified on Instagram that she was not taking legal action against Bravo or NBC but was fighting for systemic change within the industry.
Luann and Bethenny, who had their fair share of conflicts on the show, no longer appear to be close friends. Luann revealed that she will be reuniting with her other former co-stars on an upcoming season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip but made it clear that Bethenny will not be joining them.
Despite the differences between the two, Luann expressed her appreciation for the current season of Real Housewives of New York, which features a new cast. While acknowledging that it may take some time to adjust to the new individuals, she commended the show and its production.
