Breaking News: Kidnapping Incident at Moreau Lake State Park in Upstate New York Involving Craig Ross, Jr. and 9-year-old Charlotte Sena

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — In an update on the disappearance of 9-year-old Charlotte Sena in Upstate New York, Craig Nelson Ross, Jr. has been charged with kidnapping. Sena went missing Saturday evening while riding her bicycle at Moreau Lake State Park, which is located about 35 miles north of Albany.

The family released a statement expressing their gratitude for Charlotte’s safe return. She was found unharmed, hiding in a cabinet in the suspect’s camper. The statement thanked the FBI, New York State police, and all the agencies, families, friends, and volunteers who supported them in bringing Charlotte home.

New video footage shows law enforcement officers searching the Milton neighborhood where Charlotte Sena was found. Governor Kathy Hochul announced in a late-night press conference that their prayers have been answered.

A massive two-day search involving 400 certified search and rescue personnel, including the FBI, ended when the suspect unintentionally left his fingerprint on the ransom note. The suspect, Ross Jr., had driven up to the family’s mailbox in the early morning hours and left the note, assuming they were not home.

Police discovered that Ross Jr.’s fingerprints were already in their database from a previous DWI case in Saratoga. SWAT teams subsequently found Charlotte Sena inside a cabinet in a camper on his mother’s property.

Searchers expressed their excitement and relief upon finding Charlotte safe. They mentioned feeling happy for the family and relieved for all the children in the neighborhood, as they can now feel safe again.

Ross Jr. has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, and additional charges are expected from state police.
