In response to a recent shooting during homecoming festivities, Morgan State University officials are implementing increased security measures, including the construction of a 1.5-mile wall. Local law enforcement has been actively pursuing suspects in the case. The Baltimore Police Department reported the arrest of a 17-year-old male on Thursday in Washington, DC. The arrest was made without incident and the juvenile is now facing multiple charges of attempted murder, according to CNN.
Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued for 18-year-old Jovan Williams, also accused of attempted murder in the shooting incident. The police have classified Williams as armed and dangerous in their official release. Individuals who come into contact with Williams or have any information about him are urged to immediately contact 911. Surveillance footage from the shooting helped identify the suspects.
“Neither of the suspects are affiliated with Morgan State University,” stated university officials in a Friday press release, as reported by the Associated Press. The DC Metropolitan Police Department has been searching for Williams since July regarding federal gun and drug conspiracy charges. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley emphasized that they will continue their efforts to apprehend Williams.
