The Biden administration has fulfilled its promise to support Israel in its battle against Hamas with the first shipment of advanced weaponry arriving in the country on Tuesday. This move aims to bolster Israel’s defense capabilities in the ongoing conflict.
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, announced that the initial batch of advanced ammunition landed at Israel’s Nebatim Air Base late Tuesday night. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Hagari stated that these weapons will enable significant strikes and prepare for additional potential scenarios.
Hagari expressed gratitude for the United States’ support and assistance to the IDF and the State of Israel during this challenging period. He emphasized that the cooperation between the two armies is stronger than ever and plays a crucial role in ensuring regional security and stability.
President Biden has reaffirmed his commitment to stand with Israel in response to the Hamas attacks over the weekend. During his remarks from the State Dining Room, he declared, “In this moment, we must be crystal clear: We stand with Israel. And we will provide Israel with the necessary resources to protect its citizens, defend itself, and respond to these cowardly attacks. Terrorism cannot be justified, nor can it ever be excused.”
The administration has taken further steps to support Israel by deploying the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. This deployment acts as a deterrent against any parties seeking to escalate or expand the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Additionally, the United States has deployed F-15s, F-16s, and A-10s from the U.S. Air Force to bolster existing fighter squadrons in the region.
As of Tuesday, more than 1,000 Israelis and Palestinians, along with 14 U.S. citizens, have lost their lives in the conflict. The White House has confirmed that American citizens are among those being held hostage by Hamas.
