The Denver Broncos are expected to part ways with Frank Clark, a veteran outside linebacker, whether it be through a trade or his release, according to sources from ESPN’s Field Yates.
On Wednesday, Clark agreed to a restructured deal that involved him giving back $1.686 million in guaranteed salary. This move could potentially make his contract more enticing on the trade market.
Clark becomes the second pass-rusher that the Broncos have decided to move on from recently, as they traded Randy Gregory to the San Francisco 49ers last week.
Since joining the Broncos this season, Clark has only played in two games due to injury. Unfortunately, he has already been ruled out for Thursday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an illness.
After being released by the Kansas City Chiefs in March, as they were unable to reach an agreement with his agent, Erik Burkhardt, on a reworked contract, Clark found himself with the Broncos.
During his time with the Chiefs, Clark appeared in 58 regular-season games as a defensive end, accumulating 23.5 sacks. He also excelled in the postseason, playing in 12 playoff games and recording 10.5 sacks. His impressive performances earned him three Pro Bowl selections in his four seasons in Kansas City.
Prior to his tenure with the Chiefs, Clark spent his first four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive end, amassing 58.5 sacks and forcing 14 fumbles over nine NFL seasons.
