Blue Jays Prepared for Upcoming Draft with a 69-Pick Gap on the Horizon

In anticipation of Major League Baseball’s draft this weekend, the Toronto Blue Jays are prepared for a long wait between their picks. Shane Farrell, the team’s director of amateur scouting, expresses confidence that they have a plan in place to make the most of this gap.

On Sunday, the Blue Jays will make the 20th overall pick, and then they won’t select again until the third round on Monday, where they’ll choose the 89th player in the draft. Having been in a similar position during the 2021 draft, Farrell believes that his team has learned valuable lessons on how to effectively utilize their time and resources.

In a video conference with reporters on Wednesday, Farrell stated, “Our process remains consistent: to select the best available player in each round and stay committed and disciplined in the work leading up to the draft. This includes work done throughout the entire year.”

“We invest significant time in getting to know these players, and our goal is to make disciplined decisions based on the information we have,” Farrell added.
