The Biden campaign has made a strategic move by joining Truth Social, the platform created by former President Trump. This decision allows the campaign to share its message in a space mostly dominated by the former president and his followers.
In their first post on the platform under the handle @BidenHQ, the campaign expressed their curiosity about how this venture would unfold: “Well, let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!”
The campaign further engaged with the platform by sharing a video clip of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) criticizing Trump’s national debt record. This move showcases the campaign’s willingness to take part in lighthearted exchanges.
Rob Flaherty, a deputy Biden campaign manager, added a playful explanation for joining Truth Social on X, formerly known as Twitter, by stating, “A thing about campaigns is sometimes you just do things for the lolz.”
Biden’s decision to join Truth Social was first reported by Fox News. The platform was founded by Trump in 2021 and launched in 2022, after he faced suspensions from various social media platforms due to the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol.
Since then, Trump has almost exclusively posted on Truth Social, where he has amassed over 6 million followers. This number, however, pales in comparison to the 87 million followers he has on X.
