Sept. 7 (UPI) — An unforgettable moment took place during a Beyoncé concert in California when a fan went into labor while the superstar was performing.
Sarah Francis Jones, a talented actor and dancer known for her roles in movies like Honey and Hairspray, along with her partner, actor Marcel Spears from The Neighborhood, were attending Beyoncé’s concert on Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. It was then that Jones started experiencing contractions, just a few days before her due date.
“I said, ‘Something’s happening,'” Jones told KTLA-TV. “Usually I like to dance at the concert, but this time I knew I needed to sit down for a second.”
Both Jones and Spears initially thought it was Braxton Hicks, also known as false labor.
“I also thought it was Braxton Hicks, and I told her, ‘No, no, no, it’s early, it’ll pass, we’re fine,'” Spears said.
But as they left the concert, the couple realized that Jones might actually be in labor.
“As the concert went on, we started having doubts,” Spears said. “By the time we got to the car in the parking lot, the contractions were intense.”
Baby Nola made her entrance into the world on Sept. 5, just a few hours shy of sharing Beyoncé’s Sept. 4 birthday.
The couple documented their journey from the concert to Nola’s birth and shared it with their followers on Instagram.
“If we didn’t record it, I don’t think anyone would believe it,” Spears said. “It’s one of those unbelievable moments that you would think couldn’t possibly happen, but the baby made it through.”
