  • Rudy Farias, the Houston man who was reported missing eight years ago, has finally spoken out about his ordeal.
  • Houston police have confirmed that Farias was actually at home the whole time. However, Farias described his home as a “prison” during his interview.
  • In an interview with a local Fox affiliate, Farias explained, “I just wanted to be free. I just wanted to live my life.” He believes he suffered from “Stockholm syndrome,” a psychological condition where hostages develop sympathy and attachment to their captors.

Rudy Farias, who was thought to be missing for eight years, recently gave his first interview since the case became public. Farias described his home as a “prison” during the interview.

In an interview with a local Fox affiliate in Houston, Farias expressed his desire for freedom, saying, “I just wanted to be free. I just wanted to live my life.”

Farias revealed that over the past eight years, his mother, Janie Santana, had convinced him that if he returned home, the police would arrest him. He believes he experienced “Stockholm syndrome” as a result of his mother’s manipulation.

In the interview, Farias denied claims of sexual abuse by his mother, stating, “She would manipulate me into saying I would get arrested for a speeding ticket. It just felt like brainwashing, honestly.”

Farias also revealed that he would hide whenever family and friends visited their home, following his mother’s instructions to stay in his room with the doors locked and to not make any noise.

Farias’ reappearance was initially announced by two Texas-based missing persons organizations. However, Houston police later held a press conference stating that Farias had actually returned home the day after he was reported missing.

Lieutenant Christopher Zamora of the Houston Police Department accused Janie Santana of deceiving the police. Activist Quanell X also claimed that Santana had kept Farias as a virtual slave and forced him to sleep with her.

Farias denied the allegations of sexual abuse made by Quanell X in his interview with Fox 26. Four private investigators who worked on the case stated that there were red flags throughout the investigation, with all leads provided by Santana turning out to be false.

Janie Santana has not responded to attempts to contact her. She has not been charged in connection with Farias’ disappearance.
