Aaron Judge’s home run binge continues with No. 54

Aaron Judge’s march towards history continues, putting the Yankees on his back while he’s at it.

Judge crushed his 54th home run of the season on Monday, a 404-foot, two-run shot to the second deck in left field off Twins reliever Trevor Megill that broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning.

It was the third straight game in which Judge has homered – the third time he has done that this season – inching him closer to Roger Maris’ franchise record of 61 that he set in 1961. Judge’s 54th homer came in the Yankees’ 135th game of the season.

The long ball was Judge’s second hit of the day. He also doubled in the first inning and came around to score the Yankees’ first run before drawing a walk in the third inning, continuing to be the central source of offense for a scuffling lineup.
