The 2023 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference began on June 5, and it was one of the biggest events yet for the tech giant. They introduced updates to iOS devices and new products, including a virtual reality headset that is expected to make a big impact in the tech world. Here are some of the most notable new additions:
1. Apple Vision Pro Mixed Reality Headset
The most talked-about product at WWDC 23 is the Apple Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset set to release in early 2024. The product blends the real and digital worlds, allowing users to see, hear, and interact with digital content as if it were in the same room. The headset features a 3D interface that can be controlled by eyes, hands, and voice, and users can scroll or select items with gestures. It also includes the EyeSight feature that alerts users of someone approaching them while wearing the headset.
2. Apple 15-inch MacBook Air
Apple’s first new hardware product was the 15-inch MacBook Air, the world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop. The laptop is just 11mm thick and weighs only 3.3 pounds. The device comes with a 1080p camera, six speakers, and four noise-canceling woofers, and it is powered by a powerful M2 chip. It has a battery that lasts up to 18 hours and is twice as fast as its predecessor.
3. macOS Sonoma
The macOS Sonoma is a new desktop operating software coming to Mac computers in the fall. It features breathtaking new screensavers that play in slow motion, the ability to add widgets to desktop, and new video conferencing features.
4. Privacy Settings
Safari is getting more privacy features in the upcoming updates. Private Browsing will lock private browsing windows when not in use and block known trackers from loading on pages. The update will also include more transparency in allowing access to photo libraries with third-party apps and a new tool to help people share specific photos while keeping their library private.
5. Updates to AirPods
The AirPods Pro will be getting an improved Adaptive Audio feature that combines transparency and noise cancellation, and the ability to take calls and reduce noise while on the phone.
6. Upgrade to Apple TV
Apple TV is getting access to AirPod settings, home cameras, a brand new Siri remote control finder, and the ability to FaceTime friends and family members.
7. Apple watchOS 10
There are expanded and breakthrough features coming with the new version of the Apple Watch, including new metrics for active cyclists and Snoopy and Woodstock on the Watch Face to get more active with you.
8. iOS 17
The upcoming iOS 17 software update features Contact Posters, which lets users personalize how they are represented on other people’s phones when calling them, and Live Voicemail, which transcribes voicemail in real-time.
