Rookie Sensation Tommy DeVito Scores First Career Touchdown for the Giants

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — In a stunning turn of events, the New York Giants surged ahead in the third quarter of the game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Undrafted rookie and native of New Jersey, Tommy DeVito, became the hero of the hour when he rushed for a 6-yard touchdown with 8:59 remaining in the third quarter.

DeVito made his NFL debut, taking the place of the injured Tyrod Taylor, who himself was starting in place of the injured Daniel Jones. Taylor left the game during the second quarter and was promptly taken to the hospital due to a rib injury.

The illustrious DeVito, who hails from Don Bosco High School in Ramsey, New Jersey, just a mere 20 miles away from MetLife Stadium, concluded his university career at Illinois. DeVito entered the field with the Giants trailing 7-3, and this score remained consistent up till the third quarter.

The Giants orchestrated a remarkable offensive display on their opening drive of the second half, led by the explosive Saquon Barkley and assisted by some costly mistakes from the Jets. It was this drive that set the stage for DeVito to execute a masterful fake to Barkley, keeping the ball and bolting towards the left side of the field. The hole created by tight end Daniel Bellinger and left tackle Justin Pugh proved to be the perfect gateway into the end zone.

This touchdown marked a historic milestone for DeVito, representing his first-ever score in the NFL and simultaneously allowing the Giants to claim a well-deserved 10-7 advantage.

Interestingly, DeVito did not complete a pass on this touchdown drive, which spanned 12 plays for 75 yards and was inundated with numerous unnecessary roughness penalties on the Jets.
