Exclusive Interview with Spider-Man 2 Game Director Reveals Exciting Details about Game Duration
Marvel

In the lead-up to the release of PlayStation’s latest title, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” the online discussion has centered not only around its positive reviews but also its runtime.

Based on the experiences of several players, the average completion time for the game’s main story appears to be approximately 20 hours. Some players finished it a bit quicker, while others took longer. Those striving for 100% completion spent even more time on the game.

This timeframe is consistent with the original game’s release on the PS4 in 2018 and aligns with the durations of many other major single-player titles. However, 2023 has seen several releases, such as the “Zelda” sequel, “Baldur’s Gate III,” and “Starfield,” with notably longer runtimes.

As a result, a debate has arisen regarding the value of games. Insomniac Games director Bryan Intihar addressed this issue in an interview with the BBC, emphasizing their focus on delivering a game that players perceive as worth the price, rather than adding unnecessary content:

“For us, it really comes down to the experience we want to deliver with the quality we want to achieve. Of course, we understand that players are investing a significant amount of money in our game, so we want to ensure they feel it’s worth every penny. Our goal is to make sure that regardless of its length, the game provides a valuable and worthwhile experience.”

Despite some complaints, it is unlikely that these discussions will negatively impact the sales or reviews of the sequel, which are surpassing those of its predecessor. The 2018 game became PlayStation’s best-selling exclusive title to date, and even the much shorter “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” was a commercial success for the company.

PlayStation has not yet disclosed any sales figures for the new game.
