Breaking News: Detroit Lions’ Star Player Mohamed Ibrahim Undergoes Urgent Surgery – Latest Injury Update

The Detroit Lions’ day went from bad to worse when Mohamed Ibrahim, a recent addition to the practice squad, suffered a devastating hit to the midsection during a kickoff return in the third quarter. The impact was so severe that he had to be carted off the field and sent to a local hospital for immediate surgery.

Head coach Dan Campbell provided an update on Ibrahim’s condition in his postgame press conference. According to Campbell, Ibrahim is currently undergoing surgery for a dislocated hip. Despite the seriousness of the injury, there is optimism that he will recover.

“Mo is receiving surgery at the hospital right now,” Campbell stated. “It seems like he’ll be alright, but he will stay overnight for observation. He’s a tough player, and I feel for him.”

This injury adds to Ibrahim’s history of battling through various football-related injuries. In 2021, he suffered a horrific Achilles injury during the opening game of the Minnesota Gophers’ season. Additionally, while in training camp with the Lions this year, he sustained an injury that landed him on the injured reserve list and later led to an injury settlement with the team.

Unfortunately, the Lions’ running back corps has been plagued by injuries. Zonovan Knight is already out for the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury, and David Montgomery is expected to miss more time with a rib injury. Jahmyr Gibbs recently returned after being sidelined for a few games with a hamstring issue, while Craig Reynolds played through a hamstring injury during Sunday’s game.

On a positive note, wide receiver Kalif Raymond, who left the game late after a punt return, received better news regarding his injury. Coach Campbell confirmed that Raymond experienced cramping but will ultimately be fine.

The Lions will have an extra day to prepare for their upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders on “Monday Night Football” in Detroit.
