In a bold marketing move, Blizzard is promoting the release of Diablo IV’s new season, Season of Blood, with a unique campaign. They’ve launched a blood drive in the US that offers in-game rewards to participants. As more people donate blood, players will unlock various rewards, including a chance to win a custom liquid-cooled PC infused with real human blood once the donation goal of 666 quarts is reached.
The first set of rewards, five weapon cosmetics, will be unlocked when donations reach 33 percent of the goal. At 66 percent, players will gain access to the Loch Raeth Maor Barbarian armor cosmetic. Upon reaching 100 percent of the goal, equivalent to 666 quarts of blood, the Vermilion Eye Piebald Mount will be available, and the sweepstakes for the custom PC will begin.
Aside from the intriguing concept of human blood-infused coolant, the Seasons of Blood custom PC features top-of-the-line components such as NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090, an Intel Core i9 CPU, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, 3 TB SSD Storage, and the Quantum Vector GPU Waterblock for cooling. The sweepstakes will be open to all players in the US over the age of 18 once the donation goal is met. The blood drive will continue until November 20, and donations can be made at local blood centers. Proof of donation can then be submitted on the Diablo Blood Harvest website.
A single blood donation typically consists of 1 pint, so it will take approximately 1,300 donations to reach the final goal. The progress of the blood drive can be monitored on the website, which showcases a motivating display of gushing blood. As of now, the drive is already at 15 percent, almost halfway to the first goal.
Considering the recent announcement of a national blood shortage by the Red Cross, Blizzard’s campaign may be opportune. The rewards will be distributed a few days after the blood drive concludes, on November 22. Harvesting blood has never been more thrilling!
