According to an excerpt from Britney Spears’ upcoming memoir published by People, the singer revealed that she had an abortion while dating Justin Timberlake. The decision was made because Timberlake, a former member of *NSYNC, didn’t want to become a father at the time when Spears got pregnant.
In her memoir, titled “The Woman In Me,” Spears expressed her love for Timberlake and her expectation of having a family with him in the future. However, the pregnancy came as a surprise and the couple felt unprepared to take on the responsibility of parenthood.
Despite the difficult decision, Spears agreed not to proceed with the pregnancy, acknowledging that if it had been solely up to her, she would have chosen differently. She describes the experience as one of the most agonizing in her life.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake began dating in 1999 when she was 17 and he was 18. The couple eventually broke up in 2002.
