A unique and perplexing story has emerged from Sonoma County, California, where a bonded pair of dogs that were surrendered by their owner are now available for adoption. These dogs, who have been renamed Peanut Butter and Jelly, arrived at Sonoma County Animal Services with costume jewels glued to their heads. The veterinarian had to remove the jewels before they could be taken to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
Peanut Butter, a male Beagle and Pug mix (Puggle), is described as active, smooth, and a crowd favorite. He weighs 22 pounds and is a calm and explorative dog who loves to sniff and wag his tail. On the other hand, Jelly, a female Chihuahua mix, weighs 14 pounds and is known for being an excellent snuggler. With a big personality in a tiny body, Jelly demands attention by bouncing like a lamb when she’s excited.
Luckily, Peanut Butter and Jelly have found a foster home in Concord, California. Their popularity on TikTok has led to a fan covering their adoption fee. The dogs’ foster mother, Lisa Arden, created a viral social media video that garnered over 2.7 million views and received support from over 408,000 TikTok users. Many commenters expressed their gratitude and hopes that Peanut Butter and Jelly find a forever home soon.
Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for senior dogs, emphasizes the importance of keeping the bonded pair together. Both dogs are trainable and enjoy their frequent walks. Muttville collaborates with shelters, individuals, and other animal organizations to care for senior dogs in need.
