Breaking Records: BMW Smashes Sales with 9,580 Cars Sold in India from January to September

German luxury vehicle maker BMW Group witnessed a remarkable growth of 10% in total car sales, reaching 9,580 units in India during the first nine months of 2023. This remarkable performance is expected to lead to another record-breaking year for BMW Group India.

BMW Group India reported that the three brands under its umbrella, namely BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad, achieved their highest-ever sales from January to September 2023. The BMW brand alone reached a sales figure of 8,998 units, reflecting a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. Similarly, the MINI brand experienced a growth of 10% with sales of 582 units.

One of the highlights of BMW Group India’s performance was the sales of its premium motorcycle brand, BMW Motorrad. The brand registered a striking 26% growth, selling 6,778 units during the January-September period.

Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s performance so far. He stated, “After the best-ever first half in our history, quarter three has been even more promising. We have released several new models in the first quarter of 2023, and the suppliers’ ramp-up began in the second half of the year. This has resulted in our best quarter three results.”

Pawah also emphasized that the current positive trend in sales is expected to continue, especially with the arrival of the festive season and the improved supply situation. He expressed confidence in achieving solid double-digit growth by the end of the year, making 2023 yet another record year for BMW Group in India.

In 2022, BMW Group achieved record sales of luxury cars and motorcycles in India, totaling 19,263 units. Customer delivery car brands BMW and MINI experienced a 35% growth, reaching 11,981 units, while the group’s motorcycle arm, BMW Motorrad, achieved a remarkable 40% growth with deliveries of 7,282 units.

Pawah also highlighted BMW’s success in the electric vehicle market, with cumulative sales of 1,000 units since the company began deliveries last year. He confidently stated, “We are on track to deliver a total of 1,000 electric cars within 2023 itself.”

Notably, during the January-September 2023 period, BMW Group delivered five times more electric vehicles than in the same period of 2022, further demonstrating the growing demand for electric mobility in India.
