The Grammy-winning country duo, Brothers Osborne, recently released their fourth album, self-titled “Brothers Osborne.” This dynamic duo, composed of siblings John and TJ Osborne, experimented with their musical style, guided by the talented producer Mike Elizondo, who originally came from the hip-hop genre.
TJ Osborne expressed, “It feels like a fresh start for us in many ways. We’ve exposed so much of ourselves to the public in the past few years.”
In 2021, TJ Osborne publicly came out as gay, making him the first openly gay artist signed to a major country music label. At the same time, John Osborne revealed his battle with severe anxiety, which nearly led him to quit music.
Despite their strong bond as brothers, the duo, at times, faced disagreements that became a barrier to their relationship. To resolve this, they decided to seek therapy, which ultimately saved their bond and their musical journey together.
TJ Osborne explained, “We made the decision because it had become unbearable, and we knew it wasn’t healthy.”
John Osborne added, “If we had continued without resolving our issues, the band would have ended. But the biggest problem is that he’s my brother and I love him. He’s my best friend, and losing each other as brothers would have been devastating.”
In the studio, producer Mike Elizondo, known for his work with artists like Eminem and the Jonas Brothers, encouraged the brothers to push their boundaries. TJ Osborne, primarily recognized for his acoustic guitar and vocals, stepped into the world of electric guitar alongside his brother. Their latest album is a testament to their musical growth and development.
Elizondo expressed, “Above all, I knew they were incredibly talented musicians.”
In their personal lives, TJ Osborne found love with his partner, Abi Ventura, while John and his wife, singer-songwriter Lucie Silvas, recently welcomed twins named Arthur and Maybelle. Music truly runs in their family, as even the youngest members are being introduced to the family business.
“When Lucie sings, they just smile. But when I sing, they laugh,” John Osborne humorously shared.
Brothers Osborne will be commencing their self-titled tour this week in New York to promote their latest album.
