LeBron James offers support to Zach Wilson after near-victory against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
LeBron James took to his Instagram Story to send a heartfelt message to Jets quarterback Zach Wilson following their narrow loss to the Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football.”
“Helluva game kid!” James wrote, posting a clip from the NBC broadcast that showcased Wilson discussing the game with backup quarterback Tim Boyle.
“You win and lose as a team! One play doesn’t define the whole game! Keep your head up high and keep pushing forward! If it was easy, everyone would do it!”
James concluded with prayer hands and a crown emoji, along with a salute animation.
Wilson appeared dejected as he spoke to Boyle on the sidelines with 46 seconds left in the Week 4 game.
“I lost the game,” Wilson admitted. “It’s my fault, bro.”
But Wilson’s teammates rallied around him, offering support while he sat with his head down.
Despite the loss, Wilson showed remarkable growth in his performance against the Chiefs.
The young quarterback threw two touchdown passes with no interceptions, recording his first career game with such stats.
Wilson completed 28-of-39 passes for 246 yards.
Head coach Robert Saleh expressed his satisfaction with Wilson’s performance, stating, “If he plays that way, we’re going to win a lot of football games. I’m really happy for him to show that he belongs.”
Wilson also revealed that he and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett are building more trust.
Originally intended to be Aaron Rodgers’ backup this season, Wilson’s role changed when Rodgers suffered a torn left Achilles in their home opener against the Bills.
Rodgers attended the Jets-Chiefs game on crutches, just days after photos of him post-surgery were released by The Post.
The Jets (1-3) aim to break their three-game losing streak when they face the Broncos in Week 5.
