- Leaked screenshots reveal that WhatsApp may soon launch a dedicated iPad app
- Despite popular demand, WhatsApp has never been available on iPads
- The app is currently in its beta testing phase and not accessible to the general public
Leaked screenshots indicate that WhatsApp is planning to fulfill a long-time user request by releasing an iPad version of the messaging app.
Originally developed solely for smartphones, WhatsApp later became available for computers, but iPad users have been left without an official app.
While iPad users can currently access WhatsApp through the Safari browser, they have voiced their frustrations about the lack of a dedicated app for their devices.
Users have taken their complaints to social media, with one tweet stating, “Why isn’t there WhatsApp for iPad ???? if you have a desktop app then what’s really stopping you bud.”
The popular Meta-owned app was developed for smartphones only and has since become available for computers
There are leaked screenshots of the app formatted on a wide iPad screen on WABetaInfo
According to WABetaInfo, a website known for tracking WhatsApp updates, a beta version of the iPad-compatible app is now available through the TestFlight app for beta testers.
The screenshots of the app displayed on an iPad screen further confirm that testing is underway.
However, the app is still in the beta phase and not accessible to the general public.
TestFlight, an online service owned by Apple, is used for the installation and testing of new apps, but it is currently limited to developers within the iOS Developer Program.
WhatsApp has not provided any official confirmation regarding the release of the iPad app.
Nevertheless, iPad users have expressed their excitement about the potential release, sharing their joy on social media.
One user tweeted, “Finally there is WhatsApp for iPad. It is so tiring using WhatsApp Web on iPad.”
Another user added, “About time. The iPad is increasingly becoming the go-to computer for work, and the absence of a native WhatsApp client is a major inconvenience.”
In a lighthearted comment, someone joked, “WhatsApp is about to launch WhatsApp for iPad. It took them 13 years,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
