In the women’s triathlon event at the 19th Asian Games held in HANGZHOU, China, Marion Kim Mangrobang, a three-time gold medalist at the Southeast Asian Games, couldn’t replicate her winning performance and finished far from the medal race. Despite her efforts, she secured the 13th position out of 21 participants with a time of 2 hours and 13.49 seconds in the swim-bike-run race that took place at the Chun’an Jieshou Sports Centre Triathlon Course. The race was held under the drizzling rain and mist.
The gold medal in the women’s triathlon was won by Yuko Takahashi of Japan, who completed the race in 2 hours and 1 minute and 4 seconds. China’s Lin Xinyu claimed the silver medal just 26 seconds behind Takahashi, while Yang Yifan of China secured the bronze with a time of 2 hours and 2 minutes and 31 seconds.
Raven Faith Alcoseba, another participant from the Philippines, finished 16th, crossing the finish line 23 minutes after the champion with a time of 2 hours and 24 minutes and 5 seconds.
On the men’s side, Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Fernando Jose Casares failed to secure a podium finish in the triathlon event. Casares, who had won consecutive gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games, finished 10th with a time of 2 hours and 53 seconds, 10 minutes behind the Japanese winner Kenji Nener.
Japan dominated the men’s triathlon event with Makoto Odakura claiming the silver medal in 1 hour and 51 minutes and 49 seconds, while Ayan Beisenbayev of Kazakhstan secured the bronze with a time of 1 hour and 52 minutes and 25 seconds.
Andrew Kim Remolino, another Filipino participant, finished 13th out of 29 competitors with a time of 2 hours and 4 minutes and 47 seconds,
