Sept. 28 (UPI) — Travis Kelce’s popularity among football fans has skyrocketed thanks to an unexpected supporter, Taylor Swift. After Swift was seen wearing his jersey and cheering for him at the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears, Kelce’s @KillerTrav Instagram account grew to over 3.5 million followers, a significant increase from the 2.8 million he had before the game.
Along with Instagram, Kelce also gained over 570,000 followers on TikTok and an additional 25,000 on Twitter since the game. In total, his follower count across the three platforms increased by 1.3 million people. Meanwhile, sales of Kelce’s No. 87 jersey through the NFL’s official e-commerce partner, Fanatics, spiked by nearly 400%.
Kelce, who has previously expressed his interest in Swift on his podcast, Gridiron Heights, co-hosted with his brother Jason Kelce, was later seen leaving the game with the pop star. Expressing his gratitude, Kelce thanked Swift for attending the game during a recent podcast episode, where he praised her and shared how everything went perfectly for the Chiefs that day.
Kelce and the Chiefs are scheduled to face the New York Jets this Sunday, and sources suggest that Swift may attend the game at MetLife Stadium.
