Hennessey Performance has released a captivating video showcasing its latest HPE1000 upgrade for the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. In a series of drag races, this phenomenal super sedan demonstrates its exceptional performance against a stock Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 engine, the Corvette Z06 is no slouch. It generates an impressive 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.6 seconds. However, these remarkable numbers pale in comparison to the Hennessey’s H1000 upgrade package for the Cadillac.
Normally, the CT5-V Blackwing closely rivals the Z06. Its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. However, with Hennessey’s upgrade kit, the car’s output is boosted to a staggering 1,000 horsepower and 966 pound-feet of torque.
Unsurprisingly, in both races, the Corvette is left behind by the Cadillac, despite the sedan weighing more at 4,123 pounds compared to the Chevy’s 3,686 pounds.
Hennessey has made numerous upgrades to the Cadillac’s engine, including ported cylinder heads, an HPE camshaft, new valves, lifters, and pushrods, as well as a larger supercharger. The upgrade kit also includes a high-flow air intake, larger heat exchangers, and long-tube stainless-steel headers, all seamlessly integrated with the engine management software.
The tuner claims that with these upgrades, the Cadillac can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds, surpassing the Corvette by 0.1 seconds and leaving the stock CT5-V Blackwing a whole second behind. It can also complete a quarter-mile sprint in a claimed 10.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph.
In terms of the updated CT5 sedan, Cadillac has recently given it a subtle styling refresh for the 2025 model year without making any changes to the powertrains. Customers can choose between the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 237 horsepower or the 335-horsepower twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. More details about the updated CT5-V and CT5-V will be announced later, and it is expected that they will also undergo similar revisions.
As of now, Hennessey has not disclosed the price of the HPE1000 upgrade package, which was announced in June. The CT5-V Blackwing has a starting price of $93,390 (including the $1,395 destination charge), and it is likely that the upgrade kit will push the car’s price beyond six figures. However, the package does come with a two-year, 24,000-mile warranty.
