LA World Airports CEO Steps Down, Embraces Exciting Opportunity in Saudi Arabia

Justin Erbacci has announced his resignation as CEO of Los Angeles World Airports in order to accept a similar position in Saudi Arabia. According to a statement from LAWA, Erbacci’s resignation will take effect on Oct. 6, and he will soon become the CEO of NEOM Airports, a regional development in northwest Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Erbacci expressed gratitude for the work done by the Los Angeles World Airports team, acknowledging their efforts in keeping the airports safe and efficient. He described the work being done at LAWA as transformative for the airports and the city, and expressed pride in being part of that effort.

In his statement, Erbacci thanked Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and the Board of Airport Commissioners for allowing him to lead the “great team” at LAWA. Mayor Bass also issued a statement, thanking Erbacci for his seven years of service and highlighting his leadership during the pandemic.

Erbacci has been with LAWA since October 2016 and was appointed as CEO in June 2020. In his role, he oversees LAX and Van Nuys Airport, with responsibilities that include managing programs worth over $14 billion to improve guest experiences and modernize LAX’s terminals.

Prior to becoming CEO, Erbacci served as LAWA’s chief operating officer, responsible for overseeing the implementation and delivery of the organization’s multibillion-dollar modernization program. As part of the transition, Beatrice Hsu, a 10-year veteran of the Board of Airport Commissioners, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.

Mayor Bass expressed confidence in Hsu’s ability to lead during this transitional period. Erbacci also expressed his confidence in Hsu and her commitment to maintaining LAWA’s vision of gold standard airports. The upcoming years will be significant for LAWA, as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

LAX is also undergoing modernization projects, including the construction of the Automated People Mover, a Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility, and the addition of 2 million square feet of terminal space with the construction of Concourse 0 and Terminal 9. Mayor Bass emphasized the importance of having strong leadership during this crucial time.
