Director John Collins leads the cast, which includes company regulars Scott Shepherd, Vin Knight, and Maggie Hoffman. (Sept. 21-Oct. 1, Fisher Center at Bard)

THE WIZ is an all-Black cast adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s children’s book that was a hit in 1975. The new production, starting its national tour in Baltimore, stars Alan Mingo Jr. as the Wiz, Nichelle Lewis as Dorothy, and Deborah Cox as Glinda. The show, featuring a book by William F. Brown and additional material by Amber Ruffin, is set to hit Broadway in spring 2024, with Wayne Brady taking on the title role for appearances in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Director Schele Williams leads the production. (Tour begins Sept. 23, Hippodrome Theater)

HERE WE ARE is a new musical by Stephen Sondheim, created in collaboration with playwright David Ives and director Joe Mantello. This long-awaited show, adapted from the films “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” and “The Exterminating Angel” by Luis Buñuel, marks Sondheim’s final work before his death in 2021. The plot involves a group of people trying to find a place for dinner, encountering strange and surreal events, followed by their struggle to leave the place they eventually find. The talented cast includes Tracie Bennett, Bobby Cannavale, Micaela Diamond, Amber Gray, Denis O’Hare, Steven Pasquale, and David Hyde Pierce. (Sept. 28-Jan. 7, the Shed’s Griffin Theater)

ALL THE DEVILS ARE HERE: HOW SHAKESPEARE INVENTED THE VILLAIN is a solo show starring Patrick Page, known for his portrayal of bad guys, such as Hades in “Hadestown.” In this production, Page embodies over a dozen of Shakespeare’s great villains, including Lady Macbeth, as he delves into their motivations and Shakespeare’s interpretation of villainy. After being presented at the Shakespeare Theater in Washington, D.C., a few years ago, this captivating performance directed by Simon Godwin is coming to the DR2 Theater.
