Woman’s endometriosis diagnosis finally made after the tragic loss of her baby, following years of debilitating monthly pain

Jennifer Came, a 28-year-old marketing executive from South London, suffered from agonizing period pain for over a decade before discovering the cause. She had accepted the pain as normal until she had an ectopic pregnancy three years ago. During emergency surgery to remove the embryo, it was revealed that Jennifer also had endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the cells lining the womb grows elsewhere in the body and can cause extreme pain. According to the charity Endometriosis UK, around 10% of premenopausal women may have endometriosis. While Jennifer is relieved to have a diagnosis, she was also told that the condition has affected her fertility and put her at a higher risk of ectopic pregnancy.
