Crash Claims Life of Garden Grove Officer While Off-Duty

The police in Anaheim are currently investigating the cause of a tragic motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of a Garden Grove police officer who was off duty at the time.

The deceased officer, Cpl. Han Cho, had been with the Garden Grove Police Department for 28 years and was a member of the Neighborhood Traffic Unit. The accident occurred at Glenoaks Avenue and Euclid Street shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Sgt. Jon McClintock of the Anaheim Police Department revealed that the off-duty officer, who was riding a motorcycle, was swiftly taken to the hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later. The other driver involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

As of now, the age of Cpl. Han Cho has not been disclosed.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the investigators from Garden Grove police. They further stated that Cho was on his way home from work when the accident took place.

The Garden Grove Police Association will assist the Cho family with organizing memorial arrangements and collecting donations. More details will be provided in the future. The department expressed gratitude for the immense support they have received from local law enforcement partners and the community during these difficult times.

According to a GoFundMe page, Cpl. Han Cho left behind a teenage son, a daughter, his parents, two sisters, a brother, and a niece. His sister, Sonya Chung, wrote on the page that Cho was deeply loved and his sudden demise has left everyone in shock and disbelief. As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $3,900 towards its $40,000 target.

Chung mentioned that the funds collected will be used to cover the funeral expenses and ensure that Cho’s two young children are provided for as they navigate life without their father.
