Renowned businessman and former President Donald Trump is set to embark on a noteworthy journey to California, a Democratic stronghold. He will be gracing the state Republican Party convention in Anaheim with his presence, marking a rare occurrence.
“President Trump eagerly anticipates meeting with California Republicans at their state convention and is brimming with confidence in achieving resounding success in the forthcoming March primary,” stated Chris LaCivita, a senior advisor to the Trump campaign, in exclusive comments to the Los Angeles Times, which initially broke the news of this planned visit.
As reported by The Times, Trump’s speech is scheduled to take place on September 29, marking the convention’s inaugural day, at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel.
At present, there has been no immediate response from the California Republican Party to the request for a comment.
This revelation comes just days after the state Republican Party made vital amendments to its delegate allocation process for the March 5 primary election. Under the revised process, if a presidential primary candidate secures more than half of the cast votes, they will claim all 169 of California’s delegates. However, if no candidate reaches the 50% benchmark, the delegates will be proportionally awarded based on the number of received votes.
Previously, delegates were awarded on an individual basis, within the state’s congressional districts.
This alteration is perceived as a significant advantage for Trump, who maintains a commanding lead in national polls among the candidates vying for the Republican presidential nomination, despite facing recent legal challenges.
