According to an ex-Google executive, AI-enabled intimate robots will appear lifelike, eliminating the necessity for human companionship.

A former high-ranking executive at Google has made a bold prediction, suggesting that artificial intelligence-powered sex robots could potentially replace human partners in the bedroom. Mo Gawdat, who previously served as chief business officer for Google’s secretive research and development division, X, believes that AI technology will revolutionize love and relationships. Gawdat explained that virtual reality and augmented reality headsets, such as Apple’s Vision Pro or a Quest 3, combined with AI-powered bots, will be so advanced that people won’t be able to differentiate between real-life sexual encounters and artificially created ones.

In an interview with YouTube host Tom Bilyeu on the “Impact Theory” podcast, Gawdat expressed his belief that these headsets and bots will be capable of completely fooling individuals into perceiving the sex robot as a genuine human. He emphasized that advancements in technology will enable the human brain to connect with computer systems, resulting in an experience where it genuinely feels like one is interacting with a peer.

Gawdat also pointed out that AI can replicate not only the physical aspects of intimacy but also the emotional and mental stimuli associated with human relationships. He suggests that all the signals in the brain responsible for enjoying companionship and sexuality can be simulated. Gawdat dismissed the debate about whether or not AI-powered bots can be considered sentient, highlighting that it becomes irrelevant once the human brain is convinced of their authenticity. He used the example of a virtual Morgan Freeman, questioning whether it matters if it’s truly him or an AI-generated avatar as long as the brain perceives it as him.

The rise of AI has already seen some individuals engaging with AI-powered bots in intimate ways. For instance, Snapchat influencer Caryn Marjorie created a ChatGTP-powered doppelgänger of herself that engages in erotic pillow talk, which has attracted over 1,000 paying clients. Additionally, Rosanna Ramos virtually “married” an AI bot created by the Replika app, which uses AI to learn individuals’ texting styles and mimic human conversation.

However, the exponential growth of AI has raised concerns that bots may replace humans in knowledge-based industries. Critics have called for a pause in research and development to address the potential consequences of this advancement.
