Temporary Restriction: Ex-Wife of Kevin Costner Prohibited from Accessing Peloton and Mother’s Dresser

  • Kevin Costner’s estranged wife is required to vacate his Santa Barbara estate by the end of July.
  • The ex-couple recently disputed the items that Christine Baumgartner could begin moving.
  • However, she has been prohibited from taking her Peloton as ruled by a judge.

Kevin Costner and his estranged spouse are currently engaged in a disagreement regarding the items she can take from his Santa Barbara property while he is on vacation with their children.

Following their contentious divorce proceedings, a Santa Barbara judge ordered Christine Baumgartner, Costner’s former partner, to vacate his luxurious $145 million beachfront estate by the end of July.

Newly filed court documents reveal that a Santa Barbara judge has limited Baumgartner’s removal of items from Costner’s home to toiletries, clothing, handbags, and jewelry for the time being.

Baumgartner’s legal team provided a list of specific items she desired to retrieve from the property before her move-out date, including her Peloton and her mother’s dresser. However, the judge ruled on Friday that she cannot take these items at present.

“In preparation for my anticipated move from the Beach Club properties, I rented an off-site storage unit and began packing my personal belongings, such as family heirlooms, clothing, my Peloton bike, various keepsakes, and gifts from friends,” stated Baumgartner in a declaration filed Thursday. “His apparent fear that I will strip the house bare is completely unfounded.”

Baumgartner initiated divorce proceedings in May, and the separation has been highly acrimonious. At the center of the case is a premarital agreement, which Baumgartner is challenging before the scheduled November trial. More recently, a judge mandated that Costner must pay $129,000 in child support until the finalization of the divorce.

The latest filings demonstrate how minute the squabble has become, as the ex-couple disputes over pots and pans, despite Costner earning $19.5 million last year, as argued by Baumgartner’s attorneys.

Within her declaration, Baumgartner expressed her desire to claim her mother’s dresser, silverware, pots and pans, as well as an oil painting of horses and a mother-daughter horse picture from Costner’s Aspen home.

In response to the new filings, Costner’s legal team criticized the vagueness and ambiguity of Baumgartner’s item list and requested further clarification and time to determine her separate property.

“She mentions ‘Christine’s personal electronic’ but does not specify what that refers to,” wrote Costner’s attorneys in a filing on Thursday. “Does it include a TV as a ‘personal’ electronic? Is she referring to household computers? Which ones?”

Costner’s attorneys additionally mentioned that he has been on vacation with their children and has limited access to WiFi, which restricts his involvement in the matter. Throughout their separation, Costner has sought joint custody of their children.

Insider has reached out to lawyers representing Costner and Baumgartner for comment, but they have not responded at this time.

Ultimately, the judge agreed with Costner’s position for the time being and stated that both parties must meet to determine the items belonging to Baumgartner within his house.
