LA Man Imprisoned for Stealing $7.3M from COVID-19 Relief Fund

A West Los Angeles resident has been sentenced to 79 months in federal prison for his involvement in a scheme to fraudulently obtain over $7.3 million in coronavirus relief funds. The culprit, Andrew Marnell, 43, who resides in the Beverly Grove neighborhood, pled guilty in 2021 to bank fraud and money laundering charges. His fraudulent activities included submitting forged and altered documents, such as fake federal tax filings and false employee payroll records, to various financial institutions.
