These remains have been transported to the Coroner’s Office for further investigation and identification. In January, Julian Sands, a 65-year-old actor known for his roles in films such as A Room With A View, Leaving Las Vegas, and Warlock, as well as TV shows like 24, Smallville, and Banshee, went missing during a hike in the Mount Baldy area of the southern Californian mountains. While search efforts conducted on June 17 did not locate Julian Sands, the case is still active according to the sheriff’s department. Over 80 search and rescue volunteers, deputies, and staff, along with two helicopters and drone crews, have been involved in the search. However, certain areas of the mountain remain inaccessible due to extreme alpine conditions, including steep terrain and ravines covered in 10-plus feet of ice and snow. Poor conditions and the risk of avalanches had previously halted the searches in March. Despite the challenges, eight searches, both by ground and air, have been conducted, with volunteer searcher hours exceeding 500. The sheriff’s department remains committed to bringing closure to Julian Sands’ family.
