The pursuit of energy independence is an important challenge for America. Despite political divisions, there is a shared vision among scientists, industry leaders, and policymakers to ensure that Americans have affordable, reliable, and clean energy sources.
To advance this goal, we established the Congressional Energy Export Caucus. Our aim is to implement a pro-energy trade agenda that promotes a comprehensive range of American energy solutions.
A well-crafted energy policy can have a positive impact on the global energy market, strengthen the economy, and enhance national security. It is essential to prioritize the development of the right energy policy for America, putting aside political differences. As the United States reduces its energy production and exports, OPEC+ steps in to meet the global energy demand. This weakens our influence in a world where our allies, like Europe, are striving to become less reliant on problematic actors such as Russia and China, especially in the face of global conflicts and increasing tensions between democracies and autocracies.
There is a notable energy vacuum, and our adversaries are taking advantage while the United States remains passive. Mere talk is not sufficient. We need tangible action from both sides of the aisle.

In essence, the decline in American energy production sends a message to the world that we have forgotten the painful lessons of the OPEC+ oil embargo and its severe repercussions.
If the United States promotes robust energy production, encompassing both traditional and renewable energy sources, global energy prices should stabilize. It is vital for our colleagues in Washington, D.C. to move beyond advocating solely for “green energy only” or “traditional energy only.” Both approaches are politically unrealistic.
What we truly need is a comprehensive and pragmatic strategy that encourages the sharing of American energy technologies and products with the world. The United States must continue leading the way in developing, manufacturing, and deploying better and cleaner energy options on its own soil.
The Congressional Energy Export Caucus has identified four key priorities: U.S. energy security, trade competitiveness, economic growth, and investment in the future of our nation. These goals are critical for reducing energy costs for our constituents.

Our bipartisan caucus is dedicated to strengthening U.S. leadership in global trade and advancing our energy interests to gain a competitive edge over our rivals. Through diplomatic efforts and prioritizing new trade policies, we can foster international consensus that supports free markets, transparency, and anti-corruption measures on a global scale.
By focusing on American energy exports, we can stimulate economic growth, bolster existing domestic industries, and support our communities. Reinforcing our commitment to the domestic energy industry sends a clear signal to global energy markets that our priority is to provide certainty and foster healthy competition, ultimately strengthening the U.S. economy and creating job opportunities for future generations.
We are dedicated to implementing new technologies and practices to enhance our energy export capabilities and pave the way for the next generation of safe, clean, and reliable energy sources. By investing in carbon capture utilization, permitting reform, and advanced energy technology development, we can protect traditional energy sources while supporting the emergence of innovative renewable energy solutions.
The four of us stand ready to set aside partisan differences and prioritize our constituents’ and our country’s energy security. Our mission is to make the United States a global energy leader, bolstering our national security, strengthening the economy, and restoring our energy independence.
